Anyone ever run an HDMI cable from their MFD to the Smart TV?

No, but my Raymarine Axiom MFD's have a Netflix app built in.
Or are you trying to display the MFD info on your TV?

I have a Simrad MFD that has an HDMI output port so I do have the capability of using my TV as a monitor. Instead, when piloting from the lower helm at which I do not have a second MFD, I use the Simrad app on a Samsung Android tablet for controlling the MFD remotely. I then wirelessly cast from the tablet to a smart TV leaving no need for a difficult wired connection. I run a second tablet with Aquamap mapping software for a different view. I have Navionics and C-Map on the MFD. Works great for me.
