Do a search for omnithuster. Not a pleasure boat thruster. Most commercial boats already have hydtaulic powet. the thruster is similar to jet drive boat but has two jet openings. The water flow is directed by butterfly flaps. The intake is down close to the keel and about 6". The jet nozzle are 3". The water is sucked up by a high volume impeller.

The thruster is hydraulic powered by the gen set. Because gen sets are set at a constant speed the pump is variable psi, 0 to 2500 psi. The higher the psi the faster the impeller turns increasing the thrust. The pumps psi is controlled by a cable in the pilot house. The present gen set Perkins 4.35 does not have enough hp for the maximum thrust.

The bowthruster original had a foreward thrust to be a get home. I removed the forward thrust nozzle as I only used it as a bow thruster. The hydraulic pump has quick change hosecconnection that can be changed to the main shaft get home.

If you have a hydraulic get home then you could have a hydraulic bow thrust.

You could do that with an omnithruster. Just tap into the thruster and run a pipe with a hose conection. Once you have hydraulic you can power windless, winches, boom, wash down. That's what the commerial trawler does.
