IPad navigation

My IPad 2 is slowly dying. I use Navionics and Blue Chart for my backup navs. Been seeing some web issues of updating these platforms to iOS 8. Would appreciate any suggestions on new IPad purchase and data transfer. Thanks.

I am holding out for the new iPad Pro with a 12.9" display. IOS 9 is supposed to be released today. Data transfer is via iCloud and it is fairly transparent. All your purchased apps can be reloaded from the Apple Store. The other choice would be the iPad Air 2. Be sure to get the LTE version of whatever iPad you end up buying because the wifi only versions don't have GPS.

It's apple- just back up your current iPad to iTunes or iCloud, get an iPad Air (3g unit) and restore the data to the new iPad.
