We use it ours at anchor all night. We have a gen-sep water/exhaust separator where the water is discharged below the waterline and exhaust is above. Pretty quiet. Our is diesel and so it's not as bad as a gas genny but I believe they still give off CO, we haven't had a problem with exhaust entering the boat as all doors and port holes are shut.
