Driver for Nobeltec dongle for Windows 8.1

Nobeltecs new owners have decided to abandon their VNS software by refusing to provide a driver for the security dongle needed to run the program on Windows 8/8.1.

Having just lost my old Windows Vista computer and replaced it with a Windows 8.1 computer I can no longer run my navigation program with the digital charts covering Eastern North America and the entire Caribbean (updated May 2014).

Anyone have any knowledge of where I could get a driver so that Windows 8.1 would recognize the dongle? When you run VNS on the computer it asks for the dongle even when the dongle is plugged in.

If I can crack the dongle issue I would be running a fully licensed copy of the software on my computer in compliance with the original license.

Hi Marty,

Have you thought about installing Windows 7 on the new PC and then running Nobeltec? If the dongle worked in Vista, it should also work in Windows 7.

VNS11 works in 7. I have it installed on a Windows 7 laptop.

Did you try installing the driver in compatibility mode?
