Battery Reconditioning

I have always been one that replaces batteries when they die.. I have lugged more t-105 than I care to remember..

On a off boating topic I bought a golf cart to run around the estate, it's electric and of course uses 6v " golf cart" batteries. The current set of batteries will not hold a charge.. I was planning on doing a couple or three equalization cycles to see if I can desulfate the batteries back to a acceptable level for my use. I have been reading about battery reconditioning that uses both chemical and equalization to rehab batteries. I figure if I invest a few bucks and equalize the batteries what is the loss??

Has anybody here had any exposure to battery reconditioning??

I generally replace the electrolyte in the battery when it fails a carbon pyle load test, then recharge it. I just read an article on pulse technology chargers that are claiming to rehabillitate batteries. One is from http://www.pulsetech.net/. They were written up by Capt. Bill Pike of PMY. The article is in the April 2011 issue. There are other companies researching this technology since so many automakers are going to Hybrids.

I've used the BatteryMinder for years and it does a great job. I keep one on my battery banks all the time now. I've used it in the past to rehab batteries I found in the junk pile, as long as the plates were covered with electrolyte.

You can have it connected and working while the normal battery charger is running as well.
