battery racks

We have 8 6V AGMs grouped in a box on the deck of the engine room between the stringers. I need the space if I can get it and was thinking of racking the batteries outboard. Has anyone had any experience putting AGMs in battery racks?

AS long as the battery rack can take the G loads of smashing into or droping off a wave , why not.

Lots harder on a sail boat where a 360 deg rack is required.
