Autopilot

Hello All,
I have a Navico HP8000 autopilot, actually this may be the model for the hand controller only. When we bought the boat in early '06 the broker/ surveyor seemed to be happy the unit was working. All the components seem to be in very good condition and not nearly as old as the boat. After purchase I attempted to use it a few times with no success, and pretty much lost interest in it. In the last year I have tried twice to understand/ troubleshoot the unit with NO success. I can't seem to wrap my head around what I read and what I can't get it to do (which is nothing). There is a plug in handset for the upper helm and a L/R gain switch at the lower helm. Is there anyone on the board who may be familiar with this unit or one similar that can give me some guidance?? And please keep it simple for me. I seem to be beating my head on a wall with this!!

RE: Autopilot

It turns out that the only book I have is for the handset. I was at the boat last night and flipped on the AP switch in the panel. Went upstairs where the pump is and did not hear it running. Should it run??
My system controller is a JB8000 AP. I haven't been able to find any operation manual online. As far as I can tell- Simrad Yachting possibly took over the AP division??
Help

RE: Autopilot

You should find the manual available on this link. I would not think your pump should run unless the ap was calling for it to move the rudder.

RE: Autopilot

The manual for your autopilot can be found on the Simrad website under "support" then discontinued products, then autopilots, then PH8000.

If you have a manual for the handcontroller - HP8000, and wouldn't mind sharing that, please contact me, I haven't been able to track one down.

Thanks and good luck

-Bill

RE: Autopilot

Thanks Bill! The other lead played out. I do have the book on the handcontroller. Let me get with you after I get to the boat and we will figure out the best way to get you a copy.

Guru - I also am looking for the manual for the HP8000 hand programmer. If you still have it, may I have a copy?
