AIS using a RTL SDR on OpenCPN with Linux OS, mint or Ubuntu

I know people can do this.
Can anyone show me what software they used to get it to work for them?
I run the Linux OS on the boat, so it needs to be linux software, not windows OS.

I found this, has anyone done this yet?

Using this,
https://github.com/dgiardini/rtl-ais

I was able to compile and get it to run. I ordered a usb dongle with the newer r820T2 chip. It is cheap at $7usd.
So when I get it in 3 weeks, and if I figure it all out, I will post an update on how to get AIS working in Linux with OpenCPN.
Here is the USB device.
