24 volt fan at 12 volts?

I've found some IP68 rated fans, but none at the 12 volt rating that meet my needs. If I used a 24 volt fan but gave it only 12 volts, would it be safe at that voltage and give 1/2 its rated output?

I run a 24 volt biscuit fan in my forward cabin bus heater, it runs at half speed but it's quiet for a sleeping space. Bus heaters are awful things, I have only one left that will vanish when I renovate. No issues with the fan.

Thanks. Seems logical that it would be okay, but then again, there's not much logical about electricity.

We have used 24v "computer " fans on 12v for decades.

The air output is very low but just right for bringing in air blowing on a bunk.

On 12V they are virtually silent

They are nor reversible so a pair may be needed.

We mounted the fans on plastic 6 inch deck plates that fit the Dorade vents in the cabin and galley.

Having a 12v unit that can screw in when more air is needed is a second option.
