10si alternator

I just purchased a rebuild, 10si chevy alternator. I took the back of it and put a wire on the post for the rpm,s .but when I installed it, it didn,t work I did the same procedure a dozen times. I wonder what the problem may be; thanks

Did you just run the engine at idle? I have a similar alternator and the tach won't come "alive" until your engine is a few 100 rpm above idle. Then you can idle back and it will still show rpm.

There are many, many variations of internal 10SI wiring and regulator options. The one you have now may be quite different than ones you've had in the past. For example, from just one of our component suppliers, we have 30 different regulators we can order for just the 10SI....
