Nice Day

Ditto in Vallejo, here in the marina.* The temperature was 78 degrees and the wind calm in late afternoon.

RE: Nice Day

Hi, Carl.* I'm two slips away from Mark in Vallejo, California.* I think the lack of boats is a combination of things.*

First, Vallejo has just emerged from Bankruptcy.* I believe that people were initially worried about whether the city-run marina would survive the chopping block.* So many chose to tie-up else where.*

Second, with the lack of maintenance funds, the city has allowed to marina to silt-in*forcing the deeper-keeled sailboats to look for deeper water.* I calibrate my depth sounder to the bottom of my keel.* I returned at low tide a couple of days ago and had about 0.8 feet of water under me...* I draft 4'-2".

Vallejo has emerged from bankruptcy and has funds available for dredging.* Things are improving

I pay $366 per month for a 44-foot slip ($8.32 per foot).* The fees include*fairly nice concrete decking, cleats, deck box, water,*electricity....and Mark

RE: Nice Day

SD, the bridge immediately adjacent to our marina has only 12 foot clearence.* However, the bridge tender will lift it for us on request (VHF Ch. 13, cell phone, or whistle).* That water way is the Napa River and takes us up to the City of Napa.* Most other bridges have enough clearence for most other commercial*vessels.* We have heavy ship traffic through our area; tankers to Port of Bencia, Container ships to Sacramento, etc.

The California Delta is full of bridges which we request lifts with radio, whistle, or cell phone.

******* That's about the lowest slip rate I've ever heard of and in a damn nice area to boot. I'm truly envious!

Nice Day

When I moved in last June, there were lots of berths to choose from, and*later some boats went to Mexico for the winter.* I did move from J dock to K dock after a day or so because part*of the marina was too shallow for my four-foot draft.* Ever since K dock there has never been too little water, so far,*to float my boat.

"Ketch" you later.* (Liveaboards leaving K dock to visit Benicia and wherever.)

*This is the largest ship (Cap Romauld, of Greek Registry)*I've seen in Carquinez Strait.* Here it's going downriver yesterday, after suddently appearing from out of the "S" curve between Martinez and Port Costa, probably after unloading at one of the refineries in the Mococo area.* Strangely, it has no tug escort.

OK, have to ask you wrong coasters - Given these days down there, would you cruise to Mexico? Not a place I would vacation in anymore. Like to keep my head attached too much, although many who know me would state it wouldn't make any difference in my case!!!!!
*Don't have plans to go there, but at least there are no pirates unlike Florida*** .*

Walt,

You're welcome here anytime!* Al, (Flywright), Mark (Pierce), Mark (Dswizzler), Jennifer (pineapple Girl), KJ (El Capitan) and I, etc. will give you the grand tour.* I've met Al and Mark Pierce but not our other regional neighbors from Trawler Forum.* Plan to this Spring or Summer.
