From NC to Nassau

I want to help Sailor with his Bavaria 44 Sailboat. He goes from 10 Noviembre NC Pamlics Sound (New Bern) and comes on 20 Deziembre 2013 to Nassau.

This törn its hard or easy, to much rain, aligators, what can you say to this plan?

The most common route would be to stay in the AICW till well south , then head across the Gulf Stream with a careful eye on the weather.

Depending on the draft of your 44 sail boat some sections of the AICW will need careful timing to assure good water.

Going South outside is difficult even south of Cape Hatteras as the prevailing wind and current are unfavorable.
