Does Stuart plan to keep the boat in Stockton long term? (Sorry if you've covered this.) I met several people over the weekend who are at river pointe and they were all singing it's praises!

I'm glad you guys had such a great trip. It has been fun to follow along.

Wish you had left Richardson Bay at a reasonable hour like 0900 hours. Then could/would have intercepted you in Carquinez Coot and given horns' greeting. ... At home, lost track of you on AIS, northeast of the Brothers in San Pablo Bay.

Mark, that would have been nice and very welcomed!

Nothing new to add in the way of photos or videos. I have some that I haven't loaded but I'm too pooped to participate right now. As I write this Doug and I are sitting in the Sacramento airport waiting for our flight to Seattle. Both of us are exhausted and looking forward to getting home. I have a 3.5 hour drive ahead of me that I'm not looking forward to but that's life in the little city. Doug has promised me a 5-hour Energy Drink once we get to Seattle so I can stay awake on the way home. I might need it.

To make a very long (10-days long) story short, this trip was pretty successful and fun by all measures. I have some final thoughts to add but that also will have to wait until tomorrow. Thanks to all of you who posted on this thread. It meant a lot to each of us to know there were many at home watching as we made the journey. In a way, having all of you out there kept us grounded. Well, maybe that was the wrong choice of words when dealing with a boat trip. What I probably should have said was it helped to keep things in perspective.

I'll check in tomorrow to post the photos and videos. Later Guys and Gals!

Tired but happy GFC

So I have one question: Did Doug's super secret expensive sea sick watch work?

Since the guys are beat tired and still traveling today, I'll step in with a couple of pictures from yesterday.

Giggitoni Ray and I arrived at the slip as the TF Welcoming Committee. We barely got there in time to rig up a finish line ribbon and checkered flag. Just as we were stretching it across the slip entrance, Following Seas appeared in the marina fairway.

Here's a couple shots of Stuart threading the needle and the crew with their welcoming gifts from Ray and me of a box of Klondike Bars and a bottle of local California Delta Bogle Winery Old Vine Zinfandel.

Stuart, Mike and Doug (l-r)

It was great meeting the guys and visiting for a couple of hours after a welcoming toast. We got a grand tour of the good ship Following Seas from Stuart. That engine room and those MAN engines are enough to make any Perkins/Cummins/Cat/Lehman owner green with envy. The difference in scale is impressive!!

Welcome to the California Delta, Stuart!

Hey, what happened. No pictures or videos today. Think of your audience. We're not tired.

Seriously, it was a great trip, and picture book perfect. Congratulations all around. Thanks for letting us tag along.

I'm finally back home after a good flight and a ~3 hour drive from Seattle to the home digs. My brain is mush, I'm too wired to sit down and too tired to stand up.

On the way home on this side of Snoqualmie Pass I watched and accident in my rear view mirror that I'd bet was a fatality. I'll cover more of that tomorrow.

It sure seemed nice to eat dinner on the back patio and watch the Columbia River roll past. It's almost mirror calm out there and it's a welcome change from what we had for a couple of days.

I'm headed to bed soon and will post my remaining pics and videos tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Glad-to-be-home GFC

Wow, I had so many issues to take care of yesterday I just couldn't get the time to post.

Let me take this opportunity to give a big thank you to you Trawler Forum folks. Your participation meant a great deal to us during the cruise. We couldn't wait to get back into reception range so we could see your comments and thoughts on our voyage, and 20 mile offshore it's darn nice to have friends along with you in spirit, even if vicariously.

Secondly, the welcoming group was a ton of fun with Al and Ray putting up the finish line just in time for our arrival. That was a gas. And thank you guys for the Klondike bars and wine. Kind of odd fellows (not Al and Ray ) but absolutely perfect for the occasion. And Blue Skies Ed and his wife gets a big thank you for more ice cream he came with later in the evening.

And Pineapple Girl, yes, we will be here for at least through 2014, and maybe longer.

Lastly Alaskan Sea-Duction Tom. Thanks for getting the Klondike Bar movement in motion. Yes, I think it is destine to become the new forum treat.

Stuart, I am glad for the opportunity to follow your journey and I know that it can be a pain sometimes to keep the fourm updated. If you are in the SW Washington area, please stop by.-Tom and Kay

Congrats to all of you for a great yacht delivery. You showed us your patience and watching the weather windows, seas and winds which is the smartest way to go. I greatly appreciate all the valuable information you provided us along the way. Your video's are worth a million words too.

You can now call yourselves Sea Captains and be proud of your adventure. Kudos to all three of you!!

Last Day

We raised the anchor and pulled out of Richardson Bay under grey skies and a light sprinkle. We headed up into the bay and just slow cruised toward the new home slip for Following Seas. Here are a few pics of what it looked like….

We spotted this beautiful lighthouse home not long after leaving Richardson Bay…

Here’s a shot of the happy crew as we got closer to the marina….

and here are three shots of Following Seas in her new slip…..

and last but not least, the rumors of Stuart’s arrival must have gotten there ahead of him. Here’s his welcoming committee…

As we got safely into the slip and tied up there was a welcoming committee waiting. They had stretched a length of blue tape across the opening to the slip so we’d have a “finish line tape” to break as we backed in.

After getting her safely secured in the slip the cold ones were opened and a small but lively celebration started.

Here are also some videos I took on the way from Richardson Bay to the new slip….

Just a little tid bit of info to add on….

During our trip we posted on five threads, boatingabc, clubsearay, iboatnw, trawlerorum and baylinerownersclub. At this point those threads have been viewed 19,550 times and there are a total of 853 comments posted.

Thanks for joining with us on the trip and the postings. It makes me feel good to know there are many out there who had fun with us.
