This is great fun. And now this will drive the Panoramio/Google Maps people crazy if alot of people do this, but that's okay.
If you are not aware, you can have your photos mapped to Google Maps and Google Earth using Panoramio. It's a photo storage house like Snapfish, Shutterfly, and so on. You map your photo and they take a couple days to approve it.
Some restrictions like no porn (duh), advertising, people's identity clues like faces or numbers on their boats and so on. I just loaded up about 50 from my Oriental NC to Wrightsville Beach trip over the last few days. Sometimes they reject and you can ask for a second review and they'll frequently approve. It may take a couple days to actually show up on Google Earth.
This is great for getting pics of markers, anchorages, harbors and so on. I've done this over the years, but because my trip covered a pretty bland section of the ICW, not many people drop photos in from those areas, so I wanted to. (Now you can see some very exotic grasses, sandbars, markers, and bridges from Onlsow and Pender Counties - Hooray! )
Very fun to see your own shots on Google Earth and Maps.
Enjoy!
