I guess they call this the ditch or cut. It's man made I know it saved me a lot of miles going from Florida to eastern Tennessee. The water is really looking nice now. I think I'll stop at Aqua marina.

Now this is what I'm talking about I stopped and went for a swim. I mentioned my water pump crapped on me. One of our fellow members happens to live in the neighborhood and has me hooked up. And ill be in Florence for the fireworks.

After I get threw this lake ill be real close to where I head east on the Tennessee river.

David, if you get to a store, pick up a few bars of ivory soap. It floats. Great for a lake bath. With a crapped out fresh water pump you may be needing it.:D

David a word of caution on tying off in the lock. We allways wrap the line around the cleat once and hold the end. Those ballards have been known to stick. Nice to be ready to let it fly at a moments notice.

Ready2Go makes a very good point, the pins, ballards can stick. One thing I wanted to add to my post about the locking loop we use, when my wife goes on deck to tie off, she always wears a life vest which has oh it a sheathed knife in case we have to cut away. The line I have in the hose for the loop is only half inch. Strong enough to hold but thin enough to cut quick.

Yes I have a razor sharp knife ready to cut.

A picture taken from the Hatteras we locked up with. It makes Carter's Cove look pretty small

Where are you going in TN? We have homes in Marathon and Nashville, but our 24 ft Mako is too small to do what you're doing!

David, when do you expect to be in Chattanooga? I am at Chicamauga marina, dock C and will be there all weekend until Sunday. I would love to hear of you trip, we are planning the same the other way. realy need salt again. Guess I miss washing the boat before and after ever trip:)

Never knew you could get there by boat. It's mountains.

You come right through the mountains via the Grand Canyon of the Tennessee. When you come out, you are right at the foot of Lookout Mountain. Awesome trip

:socool:

It will actually be 4 lockings----Wilson, Wheeler, Guntersville, and Nickajack.

The reason I'm goin is I've been there before from the little Grand Canyon threw the little Tennessee to Knoxville I've travel all over east of the Mississippi from Michigan to Florida. This is by far the most beautiful trip of all by.

I'm watching the weather. I don't want to travel in the rain if I can plan around it. Also if they get a lot up north the river will be full of crap. But if not for that I was leaving Friday.

White sauce? They have lost their minds down there. Get out while you still can.:D Tennessee has Memphis style dry rub ribs and smoked pulled pork. Great fried catfish and hush puppies. We believe in a balanced diet so add bread pudding.
The only white sauce you will find here is the saw mill gravy on our biscuits. That's southern eggs Benedict. That of course comes with slow cured Tennessee country ham. We have Jack Daniels and George Dickel. Have you heard of any good whiskey coming out of Alabama. David, you are close to the promised land. Don't get side tracked.:D

I got my new fresh water or potable water pump changed out. I found a disconnected ground which should fix some electronics that weren't working right. And I topped off my batteries It's only been two months since I put all new batteries in and they took a half a gallon.
We are docked across from a park where Nazareth will be playing later and I'm just about a hundred yards from where the fireworks will be going up. So grab the gran kids an come on down.

Hey David, what does it cost to go through the locks? Do they provide the lines to tie the boats with? I've never gone through a lock before but my boat came through the Panama Canal and you have to have line handlers and your own lines there.
