Had a little scare. I looked into the back bilge and found a lot of water. First thought is o crap I'm going down. We had just come back from town. So I wasn't sure if the big bilge pump had been running or not. Then I started to rationalize what was in the back bilge. The rudders, holding tank and shower and sink. Once I got the water down which was nice to know my pump got ahead of it. I could see it was coming from the back of the boat. So I look in to the very back and could see the rudders weren't leaking yes ok now the nasty but not sinking problem the holding tank. I had the admiral flush for awhile and yes no leaks I'm thinking o man am I gonna have to do taste test to see if its salt or fresh. It didn't have a strong odor but had a bit of one. I kept looking and I finally found the problem way in the back there's a little cubby hole where my macerater and hydrolic pump are. Well it's also were the lines for the shower on the swim platform are. The admiral used it and turned it off with the shower head not the spiket. The line to the shower head leaks I now know. Wow what a rush

Hi Dave,
Sounds like fun so far. Nice pics! Marathon already seems like a million years ago doesn't it?

Did you not hear the water pump running?

I had the exact same thing happen to me, so now on my pre-takeoff checklist I turn off the circuit breaker to the water pump. I can't hear the water pump running when the engines are running so turning off the water pump CB prevents this issue.

I'm gonna try Dunedin. The dock master said he had a spot on the wall. I'm just not sure for how long. I could use some local knowledge. Someone told me if I make my crossing its pretty nice and much cheaper.

David if you are going to Marker 1 Marina in Dunedin, it is a good place. Caladesi Island State Park is across the ICW from there. You can take your dinghy over for a less crowded beach. There is also a ferry that goes over, but I think it leaves from the other end of the causeway.

Tarpon Springs is near by.

Well we are safely tucked in our slip. We feel like we're at the zoo. Except we're in the cage. We're on a pier with lots of people walking by to see the boats and sunset.

Dave,
Good to see you getting the water under the keel. As to our trip I will resume in a few weeks. Sepp and I just sailed 500+ miles to Beaufort, NC moving a client's boat. Will be in Deltaville after the weekend then it's launch Grace and head for Maine. I'm always here for you Old Sport!

When you get to Mobile bay you should go a little further and visit Horn Island. Maybe another 30 miles or so in the icw but it is quite the delight. Great looking trip so far.

Paul, Horn Island is a very pretty place during the week. Not particularly so on holidays and weekends. You about have to take your own bucket of sand with you. It is nice to anchor and wade ashore.

From what I see in the weather. Because we didnt cross the gulf today it will probably be a week before the winds and seas die down. I like windfinder.com it's very easy to follow you can go to map and look at all the weather stations along your planed trip with wind and waves with map you see their direction
