Strictly in my opinion again, the land around the south sound is flat and featureless (compared to up north) and is covered with houses. We got into boating for the same reason we got into floatplane flying--- to get as far away, if not actually at least visually, from people as possible. Besides having unexciting terrain, the south sound is just too populated. It's like being on Lake Washington. The water's nice but the view isn't.
