Racor Maintenance

I have a Racor 900 MA on our Mainship 390 with a Yanmar 6LP, which I need to service, Is the only thing I need to do is shut off the fuel tanks to stop the flow to the filter, and then Drain and remove the cover. or is there something I have to do, to stop fuel coming back from the engine filter, Many thanks

Try this:

Seems pretty straightforward if your setup is the same.

Yes - the above should be all you need to do. You don't even have to drain all the fuel, just till you can see the top of it in the glass bowl. (actually, you don't have to drain any fuel at all but I have found that if you don't, removing the filter element causes the fuel still in the filter element to drain back into the bowl which backflushes the filter element taking a lot of dirt back into the bowl with it)

Our fuel tanks unless they are almost empty will gravity fill the racors after we change the element so it is really easy to do.
