Product ideas for exterior painting

We have a 41PT europa trawler.* The "roof" of the covered walkways need to be repainted.* Originally they were quite rough (you can see a small section behind the sliding door track) and somewhere in*the boat's*lifetime they have been sanded smoother and repainted.* They*currently look like "knock down" ceilings you have in your house. * We thought of a complete sanding (not to smooth) and repainting with perhaps a non skid type paint to make it more uniform.* Has anyone had any experience with painting this area and if so, what did you use?* Thank you.*

If you use a small "trim roller" it will leave a slightly dimpled surface that creates "uniform" with less work.
