Keeping your boat in ship shape

I figured I would share some recent advice from my dad (since he's not on the forum).
"To keep your boat in ship shape, don't forget to carefully inspect the sacrificial anodes, commonly called zincs. Don't just visually inspect them. I have had zincs that looked great but when I pushed on them with a screwdriver the shell gave way to almost nothing. If you have never had a real problem with your zincs then start losing zinc material quickly, then make sure you do not have an on board problem, this may require someone with more expertise than the owner may have. If your on board electrical is ok, them move on to the shore power side."

Since I've been putting a couple coats of anti-fouling on my hull zincs they seem to last much longer. Oh, and plenty of teflon tape on the engine and plumbing threaded anodes.

Ship shape to my father means no spots on the carpet no dishes in the sink
to me it means everything works and will be reading in a monument notice should you need it .
