Jabsco conversion pump on head issue ?

I was looking too save a few bucks on a electric conversion pump
Original owner of boat installed a electric conversion pump replacing manual
Recently motor burned out .
Hitting Amazon / Ebay Pricing was all over the map from $ 325 upwards too $ 500 for same exact model
On ebay found same exact conversion pump
Seller disclosed , Used , BUT WAS NEVER INSTALLED .
Disclaimer from seller, purchased from a marine surplus store item was returned , No knowledge why it was returned but was never installed ?
NO RETURNS
Got a great deal $ 150.00 including toilet
Installed only the pump worked OK but after a short while motor is weak . Removed conversion pump checking impellers Jocker , gaskets everything seems OK , impellers spin
Putting on a bench , water coming thru so its not running dry, metal blade turns but after few seconds slows and eventually stops.
Motor does not feel hot .

RE installed so if necessary toilet was useable
.
Ceiling lights in bathroom flicker when motor stops which tells me bad MOTOR

I have in my town Electric motor rebuilders , generally larger motors .
Has anybody done this . Are they rebuildable ??
head is used only when its a must , and considering going back too a manual hand pump .
ANY THOUGHTS< IDEAS

A weak motor and flickering lights sound like low voltage to the toilet. All electric toilets need to be on their on its own separate dedicated circuit, shared by nothing else that can pull power from it. If the toilet is causing lights to flicker, it has be on the same circuit as the lights, which can't carry the load the toilet needs. The correct wire size for the ROUND TRIP distance from the power source (battery) is also critical...wires that are too small can't deliver enough power to the motor. Low voltage is damaging to electric motors...which is most likely what burned out the previous toilet. I'm betting that you just connected the same wires to the new toilet...and in simply reconnecting the new one to the same circuit, you've repeated his mistakes.

If you can tell me which Jabsco model, I can give you the link to the owners manual that has the wiring specs for it. Installling it again, this time correctly, should solve the problem.

Thank you for getting back
Jabsco electric toilet conversion pump model # 29200-0120

I saw on line details on this pump . Install is straight forward, red 2 red , black 2 black

Old motor worked fine, Loud did the job , years , until one day it stopped
Perfect indication of a shorting motor is diming lights when trying too activate

HENCE MY SEARCH FOR A REPLACEMENT
Got the replacement . Same model #
Prior too install bench tested brief second . Worked
Install on boat was easy black too black / red too red Short run 10 gauge
Coming out of wall is red /black 10 gauge .

Sometimes manufactures run wiring ( just incase ) Don't know if wiring is mfg pre install or previous owner ran ,but its 10 gauge
But toilet Originally had manual pump ???????.
Original electric pump worked many years and lights only flicked when motor had issue and stopped altogether
Replacement pump motor works then slows like the energizer bunny too a stop . Lights flicker only when it stops which tells me MOTOR ??

I am also wondering if lack of water would cause motor too stop ?? Water goes into bowl and I saw bottom impeller with blade turning, but never checked top impeller
Wondering could the top impeller if not correct not have enough water and slows motor ?? water should not hit motor anyway , just a thought
I am thinking I got a bad motor which is why it was returned too marine shop .
Everything looked new when received .
thanks

I don't think you got a bad motor...That particular "conversion" is one that even Jabsco doesn't recommend because it has a current draw that's almost double that of other sea water macerating electric toilets--25a vs 15a and "chokes" on flushes that a more robust pump can easily flush and also makes enough noise to wake the dead. Lack of water would definitely cause a problem ("fry" the intake impeller), but I'd bet real money that wiring is the real problem--if not the wire size, that it's not on its own separate dedicated circuit...It couldn't cause flickering/dimming lights if it were. Here's a link to the owners manual Jabsco 29200 owners manual Electrical specs and instructions are on p 2. You might as well create a new circuit for it 'cuz any electric toilet you replace it with will need one too. If you decide "to hell with it, I'm gonna replace it with another manual toilet," I'll be glad to help you select a "conversion" won't be the least expensive, but will actually be worth the price.

Sent a email customer support too Jabsco explaining all events as I posted in this forum
Tech from Jabsco said check impellers
He said impellers blades stiffen , a bad impeller could stop motor from turning .
When I return too boat will try too see the wiring , but like most areas of my boat virtually impossible too view or too get too most areas without ripping apart boat or cutting of my arms & legs for lack of clearance
Teck had a good idea,
Remove impellers , run motor . Motor does not need water , only impellers , see if motor stops . Water needed too lube seals & impellers
If motor works longer then it presently does then impellers are the cause , change top & bottom
He did indicate the model I should get if I decide too go manual

Not expecting too return too boat few weeks , will keep U posted
Thank You

A couple of things: Email tech support may or may not be from someone who doesn't actually have any hands on experience, is just quoting "boilerplate" from a manual. So I'm gonna give you the direct phone line to their toilet specialist:

Paul Campagna 978-282-5246.

When you return to the boat, turn on the cabin lights and anything else that's typically on when the toilet is used, and put a volt meter on the toilet. If it shows less than a *full* 12v WHILE FLUSHING, the motor isn't getting enough power. Assuming that your house battery is delivering a full 12v (make sure of that first), that will tell you whether the toilet is on its own separate dedicated circuit or not.

Jabsco only makes one manual toilet. Its price compared to every other manual toilet should tell you all you need to know about its reliability and durability.
