For future reference to all with Capilano steering systems ( Seastar). There is an option for their grossly over priced cylinder. ($725 to $1000)

I found a replacement for the Capilano BA200-7TMB (ball+swivel) and BA200-7TMC (ball + clevis) that will work if you do not mind drilling 4 holes. The unit is made by Uflex in Florida and appears identical but there are some slight variations in measurements. I spoke with company & they confirmed it will work well but because it is 1" shorter length overall, it will require moving the rear (ball end) mounting bracket forward 1/2" to compensate and drilling 4 new holes to bolt it down. I'm thinking might not even need to do this, you might be able to make up the 1/2" if the clevis or swivel has enough threads that it could be unscrewed enough. The Uflex model# is UC293-I, best price found was boatingsolutions web site at $495.00

Will report back if I decide to try the Uflex.

"It appears that the plastic pieces holding the cup seals had swelled,"

Sounds like the wrong fluid was used at some time.

I'll second FF comment.

Be carefull to use the right fluid. Ask the mfg..
