Galley Refit / gas or electric stove?

This post poses a question, that for me is now obsolete as I have already made up my mind. But as always, it is interesting to see other peoples point of view.

I guess the post is also me unabashedly sharing photos of our new galley refit that we are so happy with! Not quite finished yet, but you get the idea.

The question that we pondered prior undertaking the work was to keep the propane or use electric.

In the end we have gone for a gas hob, and convection microwave. We use the hob all the time and felt that although our gen-set is fairly quiet, we didn't like the idea of starting it every time we wanted a cup of tea. And whilst the microwave is quite small, we can use our gas BBQ for those big oven needs.

Thanks Brian, I have edited the post, it is a gas hob.

Its a solid surface - Staron.

All the times I've heard "hob" used were by a bunch of Brits.

A hob is what we would call a cook-top.

Many hobs have a built in broiler , under the top.

The Brits like their burned meat ,like us, just dont like having to stand about in the rain with a BBQ outside.

A little update.

Finally got around to knocking up a draw, and installing the convection microwave.

Just need to machine up a new teak draw face.

And then get cooking!

To answer a couple of questions, the wood is teak.
The top is staron, or corrian. Not sure of the cost as it was traded for a few favours.
