Floating dock and creaking lines

If you wrap the line as it comes through the fairlead with a plastic carrier bag and secure the plastic bag so it cannot blow away the two layers of plastic act as the necessary lubricant! It works but if it’s really windy then, as others have suggested, add more or heavier lines.
 
I do not use any chaffing gear that is waterproof. In case of a big storm, you want the nylon lines wet so they do not overheat and melt. You want chaffing gear that will let water pass through it and eep the nylon line cooled with the water.

Agreed. An annoying squeak and gale warrant different approaches.
 
Better yet, select marinas surrounded by adequate breakwaters.
