We have a cruiser in the slip.upwind of us now instead of the various sailboats we've had in that slip for the last 12 years. The cruiser's high cabin and flying bridge apparently turn the prevailing SE-S-SW winds so they now sweep up our starboard deck between the house and the bulwark like a wind tunnel. The result is that the forward section of our starboard caprail cover gets pulled off its inboard snaps and lifted into the air. The cover can't depart the boat but its flapping around could blow out seams and then rip the fabric. We pondered a variety of solutions that wouldn't work for one reason or another and then my wife thought of the solution shown below.
They are vinyl coated, spring steel clips that are used in the fabric industry to keep rolls of fabric from unrolling. The ends are turned out but I stuck the pieces of foam on in the theory that they might help avoid wear on the fabric. The foam may not be necessary at all.
Anyway I thought it was a great solution and clips like these could come in handy to solve someone else's similar problem.
