any hints on how to match the color of my 1983 36 Albin, I want to do some touch ups .... thanks or maybe someone out there knows what color is very close to it..

There is a company in FL that will match colored gelcoat. Send them a sample and they will match it. The bad news is there's a one gallon minimum.

Some companies sell color matched gelcoat for the more popular brands of boats.

Your gelcoat is probably seriously faded by now. Good gelcoat pros custom mix gelcoat when patching. You can buy a kit at West Marine but your chances of getting a great match without prior experience are not great.

would you know the company name in Fla that can do the matching ?

FGCI is the company. You need to send them a piece that is at least 1" square so they can match it. Costs about $100 to $120 per gallon.

That sounds like the one I'm thinking of.

Remember the fading I mentioned. You might want to wet sand, compound and wax the boat first before you try to match the color. You don't really want to match faded gelcoat because when you do renew it, your tough ups or repairs will no longer match.

Quantum Paint will match your gelcoat if you send them a small sample. Their one gallon gelcoat is $110. I've seen them demo their Genius Bucket (everything to do a small boat for $500) at boat shows, and also on Ship Shape TV. You just roll on a couple of thin coats with a foam roller, no tipping required. They also have a 2 part gelcoat in a rattle can ($70), which they can match with a sample.

Puffin - thanks for bringing up Quantum. First I've heard of them.
