I just noticed that my boat has the ICW brown mustache.

How does one go about getting rid of that?

Oxalic Acid.

Then clean it up and coat with something like Rejex. Whatever you use get in the habit of hosing off that part of the hull whenever you can.

Ok. Thanks. Don't some toilet bowl cleaners have O acid in them?

Gonna be hard to wax that area of the the boat in the water however.

Good off rust stain remover and sprinkler stain remover works good. Pretty sure it's just oxalic acid.

Lemon Juice works well also. Then a coat of Rejex as stated helps slow it's growth.

Barkeepers Friend, then wax

Second on Barkeepers Friend....works wonders and useful for cleaning anything stainless.
It now comes in liquid or the old powder...try it you'll like it.

Wear it as a mark of how well you are using your boat until the next time you have it detailed!

Any toilet bowl cleaner with acid in to will take it right off with little or no scrubbing.

We use, The Works, purchased from the dollar store then take a sponge mop and Mop & Glow to get the shine back on the bow. Will look great!!. We boat on the Tenn. River and after every river trip we have a brown mustache.

Jeez, I would have thought all y'alls would want to wear it as a mark of pride! What gives here?:)

Oxalic Acid.

+1. You can buy it on Amazon for about $20.00 for 5 pounds. 12 ounces mixed to a gallon of water is all that's required. Be ready to go down to the post office to pick it up. They seem to have an issue with white powder in the mail lately.

Sigh.

All these shiny unused boats plying our waterways.

I wonder if you worry as much about cleaning your cars or roofs?

Yep to both. Take pride in my/our vehicles be it boats or cars.

I'm kinda partial to brown mustaches :whistling:

Oxalic acid should be available in any marine, paint or hardware store. I expect any of the other suggestions will work as well.
Rejex does seem to be the best coating to prevent it's return.

I guess I should try all your suggestions?
