Looking at purchasing a 41' Trawler that has been in a boatyard for two years out of the water. It's a mid 80's Taiwan boat (Defever design). What if any issues might I see due to how long it's been out of the water that a survey may miss?

Part of the survey should occur in the water so you can check the operation of all systems, sea trial, etc.

Most decks will leak , so the question is was a garboard plug installed to let any rain water out.

Look carefully to see if the boat was filled with water over the storage time.

Replace all impellers.
Raw water pump seals will be leaking.
Burp your dripless packing.
Toilet seals need replacing.
Verify steering fluid level..
Flush and replace antifreeze.
Change all engine oils then check for leaks.
All fuel and oil filters need replacing.
Check engine belts.
Verify all temperature readings are "Normal".

Bar over engines by hand before hitting the start. Things can bind up while sitting and break if hit by starter.

All orifices are possible bug / vermin nests if they were not covered. Anticipate plugged lines.
