Does anyone know of any device I could wire up to my bilge pump that would tell me the number of times it switched on. I'm away from the boat sometimes up to two weeks and always find water in the bilge. I leave it empty when I leave but always find water when I come back. Would like to know if I have a major problem or not.
Thanks,George

Aqualarm makes a bilge counter.

you can either modify a pedometer (used to count steps ), or as I use, an hour meter wired across the power to the bilge pump so it gives me a total of hours the pump has ran

+1 for Aqualarm.

Had them make me a custom 4 pump panel with switches and counters for all 4 pumps. Each counter is resettable with the push of a button.

Why not find the source of the leak? Is it fresh or salt water for starters?

Seems to be fresh water but hard to tell sitting in the Chesapeake. Emptied both water tanks before I left and will check to see if I have more water when I get back down. Water in the bilge seems clear but does smell, could be fresh or the smelly Chesapeake. I'll have to keep looking, but need to check how often the pump comes on when I'm not there.
