Not really many Amazon computer parts , and other items come from china now.

Try ordering a replacement set and see if there is more than a weeks wait.

Yes, and there are many Chinese sellers on eBay of electronic items that ship direct and have excellent feedback.. but unless he is very lucky, this is likely a very different scenario from that. These are probably made by an obscure foundry or forging plant in China that is used to selling in huge quantities to distributors around the world. If he wants just one or two, the Chinese company would have pretty much zero inspiration to deal with him due to export hassles. But if he could connect with someone at the plant that speaks English maybe they could point the way to a distributor that has these here.
