Peggy Hall.......Is "CLR Septic" ok for holding tank?

I found that the first mate bought this for the boat. It says on the container that it is safe for RV and marine tanks and it hrlps with bacterial breakdown, yada, yada. ....but I'd rather get a better educated and experienced view from Peggy.

Thanks in advance.

According to the MSDS, it's a "Bacterial inoculant for septic systems"...iow, enzymes. So I suspect it's just CLRs answer to RidX, which doesn't work very well in a holding tank. Enzymes rarely do because they exhaust themselves so quickly.

So it's safe enough...how effective it is in a holding tank is another matter. You have it...try it. Worst case, you'll have odor out the vent every time you flush the toilet....in which case, I suggest you try Odorlos. It DOES work.

Thanks Peggy. I'll give it a shot for few weeks and see what happens.
