Nicro Air Purification System

Has anyone had any experience with the "new" Nicro Air Purification System?* It sounds good (and affordable at $99 from Defender) but I have been unable to find any consumer reviews on the product.* Does it work?*

"ultraviolet light photo plasma purifying process" is sure a big sentence! I wonder if it makes ozone?

Nope, not an ozone generator. We tried ozone ten years ago on our first boat.

RE: Nicro Air Purification System

This may not be an ozone generator but some of these UV air purifiers generate ozone on the bulbs. Not sure if this is the case here. This is not new technology, it has been around for a few years now. I just have to wonder if it works as advertised why we have not seen and heard more about it by now. UV purification has been around and is used in the medical field. But there are several processes that achieve this. Does this system expose the air to enough UV to be effective? This is from Consumersearch;

The problem with UV air purifiers, or combination units that include UV light bulbs, is that the science isn't conclusive. While studies do show that UV light can kill organic allergens, heat, low humidity and exposure time are also important. Critics doubt that the UV light bulbs contained in air purifiers can live up to their claims, because allergens aren't exposed for very long to the light. For now, it's not clear whether these air purifiers are worth the extra expense over a good performing HEPA unit.
