Oh well... anyway they guy just put a pair of panty hose over the end of a wet/dry vac hose, then put it on the drain. It'll suck objects out of the drain, and the panty hose keeps them from going into the vac. You could also use this trick to grab dropped stuff out of the bilge, etc.

AN interesting trick from the Dashew board was to use a vac for an oil leak.

Seems one of his Deere marinizations had an oil leak, so he shmeered a good grade of sealant on the outside , while sucking with a shop vac on an opening in the engine.

Claims it worked!!

Would have to dunk most Detroits in silicone and vac to get one to stay dry.
