I have a spring-loaded NFU jog lever mounted on the left armrest of the helm chair.
It's not only good for close quarter manoevering, but also when the sea conditions are too much for the TMQ autopilot (big quartering/following sea). It's an off the shelf Schneider lever connected directly across the Pilot output terminals. Like Libra, the steering is powered by a continuous flow engine-driven hydraulic pump and the Pilot simply controls a valve block.
Response is instant and only very small movements are needed. Its a big rudder and it can move so quickly that the boat heels - newbies take a bit of time to feel confident - and hold a straight course!
In close quarters, we use the rudder angle indicator display on the Pilot.
