RE: First time buying liveaboard -- help!

Too many guns over there.
Just go over buy the boat you like and either sail her back with a big eye on the weather or ship it back.
It will still work out a lot cheaper.
If you snoop around the info available in Aus there have been many Aus boats (classed as coastal cruisers) such as mine that have travelled to the USA and beyond and returned on their own bottoms.
A Nordy is not an absolute requirement.
Sound management, good structure and planing are required.
Plus a real sense of adventure.

First time buying liveaboard -- help!

True, Benn, true....hmmmm...she's still over there in London awaiting the arrival of our grandson, who is now officially late....but nah....I don't think I'd be able to fool her. She'd notice a boat about 4 foot longer when she got back than when she left I think, and would be bound to have something to say about it....
