Your boat, my boat

A generation apart: 1960s versus 2010s:

Hope so. ... It's still questionable whether he'll attend his grandson's wedding in Isleton next month. He has tales to discuss: sailboat racing in the 1960s and his co-piloting a B-17 shot down over Germany from which he bailed out to become a POW.

They were brave guys.

My father -in -law was a tail gunner in a Lancaster shot down over France. He was luckier than your dad, his plane managed to make just south of Dover before they finally crashed. Not so good for the co pilot and navigator though.

In some ways I don't think he ever really came to terms with what happened that day.

Look after your dad.
