So sorry to hear of your loss. Truly full members of our families.

Sorry for your loss. Dogs add so much to the boating and cruising experience. Our border collie is a good sport on long passages, but her real agenda is to anchor and get to shore with a frizbee.

Heartfelt condolences. Dogs rule.

Heartfelt condolences. Dogs rule.

Yep. God gave us dogs to teach us about Fidelity and unconditional love. So sorry for your loss. We all understand. My son told me once that the only mistake God every made was to make parrots live a hundred years, and dogs only 14.

Too true.

A sad day for sure, so sorry for your loss.

Coincidentally, our old friend Polar went today too, he was a great boat dog and kept the world safe from otters, seals and ducks. They take a huge piece of our hearts when they go and life will definitely be different without their love.

RIP Polar. You are gone but your memories not only linger but will stay.

Sorry to hear of the family's loss.

Whenever one of us thinks of him in a mournful way we go to this video. If you've not seen it before, I hope you enjoy it.

So sad to say those goodbyes. Our thoughts are with you.

If it should be I grow frail and weak

And pain should wake me from my sleep,

Then you must do what must be done,

For this last battle can’t be won.

You will be sad, I’ll understand

Don’t let your grief then stay your hand,

For this day more than all the rest,

Your love and friendship stand the test.

We’ve had so many happy years,

What is to come will hold no fears,

You’ll not want me to suffer so,

When the time comes, please let me go.

I know in time, you too will see,

It is a kindness you do for me,

Although my tail its last has waved,

From pain and suffering, I’ve been saved.

Do not grieve that it should be you,

Who has to decide this thing to do.

We’ve been so close, we two, these years,

Don’t let your heart hold any tears.

Thank you everyone, He was very dear. I hope, when he arrives in doggy heaven, he will put in a good word for me...

Condolences, Menzies and Xsbank. Hold on to the good memories, celebrate the time you had together. I`ve held paws at the end, it`s tough.

Will you be getting a puppy by year's end?

Condolences both.
Vowed never to have one again after the last lot of heartbreak.
And here I am with a bloody cat curled up on my lap and I don't like cats.
Apparently she ever got the memo.

So sorry to hear this. Thanks for letting us read about Grace. We know how much a good dog adds to time on the water.

Condolences and commiserations Simi, cats can't read memo's, only humans.
Talking of dogs, did you know there's a special breed of dog for boats.
The breed is a Belgian Schipperke and they were originally bred as a commercial barge guard dog, brilliant on board they are too.

So very sorry for your loss. :(

Very sorry to hear of your loss.....my hope is when my time comes the pack will greet me and I'll get to join them as one in doggie heaven.

Heartfelt condolences to you both. Having been taken care of by dogs my entire life, I really know the sadness you feel. :flowers:

My deepest condolences to you and your family for your loss. That was a beautiful tribute video you put together.

So sorry for your loss. When we lost ours I was googling about where/how to bury a loved dog - and found this:

"There is one best place to bury a dog.
If you bury him in this spot, he will
come to you when you call - come to you
over the grim, dim frontier of death,
and down the well-remembered path,
and to your side again.

"And though you call a dozen living
dogs to heel, they shall not growl at
him, nor resent his coming,
for he belongs there.

"People may scoff at you, who see
no lightest blade of grass bent by his
footfall, who hear no whimper, people
who may never really have had a dog.
Smile at them, for you shall know
something that is hidden from them,
and which is well worth the knowing.

"The one best place to bury a good
dog is in the heart of his master
