Trash compactor replacement

Has anyone replaced their compactor with a slideout mechanism. We have a compactor really don't need or like and would be happier with a two can slide. The dimensions are wrong for an off-the-shelf unit and, short of modifying one or building from scratch, I was wondering if anyone has been down this path.

We use the foot on the bag type. (Sorry, couldn't resist).
