Teakerne Arm Park is Burning

2.5 hectares.

Some dimwit's cigarette, or a banned campfire. Use your head and be careful out there! 20 years of firebombing in my youth taught me that 80% or more of fires are man-caused.

The news picture taken from the air yesterday, shows the fire to be in a part of the park not usually used by the public. The path from the dinghy dock to the lake goes up the west side of the creek from Cassel Falls. The fire is to the east of the creek, and on the south shore of the lake.

This observation doesn't negate a careless camper or "Some dimwit's cigarette" as the cause, but if that is the case, the person knows who he is, as he was likely the only one there at the time.

We have been lazing at anchor in the general area for over a week and have seen lightening whatsoever. Until last night,(after the fire became a news item) the skies have been clear, or at worst, some very high thin cloud. The night before the fire became news, we were 2.5 miles away, anchored under sunny skies and had a calm, quiet night in which the milky way was above us. So no, it is unlikely there was any lightening at the start of the fire.
