We purchased a 2005 Mainship 430 aft cabin trawler last year (2016). This past winter we had the swim platform rebuilt. It turned out great and we added a stainless steel rub rail to mitigate the bumps it will eventually have to endure.
As we are new to the trawler family, and maneuvering with limited visibility in backing situations we are interested to hear about how others protect their swim platforms, especially the rounded outboard corners.
Other than remote cameras, does anyone use bumpers to protect the out board corners of their swim platform? I see Taylor Made has a swim platform fender for the rear (aft) of the platform, and it shows a pic of the bumper on a corner – does this work?
We’re thinking we would like to ability to place a bumper on the corners when docking in unfamiliar marinas.
Looking for ideas…..
Thanks,
Jim
