Hi guys. My mainship 30 has a bolt that runs from the bottom of the rudder to the skeg. My diver brought it to my attention that it was gone. Has anyone experienced this? I recently had the engine removed to replace fuel tanks. The shaft alignment appears to be true but I'm suspecting that if it's off a bit it could cause a vibration this bolt to back itself out. Any ideas? Thanks.

If your shaft is out of alignment you'd probably know it. Did the mechanic realign the shaft with the boat in the water or on the hard? Boat needs to be floating.

Do you feel the vibration? If not, I'd be inclined to just replace the bolt using high strength Lock Tite.

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure if the alignment was done in the water or not. I will pass that along. It's going back to the shop today. I have not noticed a vibration however at cruise, the shaft looks true but the dripless log has a slight wobble.
