Marin has been critical of anchors that have questionable performance in rocky bottoms or ell grass. So I looked through my cruise guide on SE and at page 150 and every 25 pages after that I found the first bottom description and recorded it. Here is the record.

Pg 150** sand bottom
Pg 177** sand and gravel
Pg 200** soft bottom
Pg 225** sticky mud and decaying matter w good sticky holding
Pg 275** sticky bottom
Pg 300** soft bottom
Pg 327** sand and gravel
Pg 350** hard bottom
Pg 375** sand and gravel
Pg 401** gravel and kelp
Pg 425** sand, mud and some gravel
Pg 450** mud, sand, pebbles, shells and kelp
Pg 500** mud

That's probably a good cross-section of bottoms in SE Alaska. Didn't look for rocky bottoms nor did I find any. So a Super Max, Danforth or any other soft bottom would probably work just fine up here. I have anchored on a hard bottom in Rocky Pass and the only anchor aboard that hooked up was my old Danforth.

ERIC !!!!

I saw your thread title and was looking forward to some nice photos of pretty Southeast girls !!!

You sure know the right bait for those attracted by a round bottom !!

OS,
Well you know what the girls say about the men in Alaska**** ..the odds are good but the goods are odd. The reverse is true also. Not the odds** ...the goods.
