Used a hair dryer and plastic scraper on the name boards this weekend. Vinyl letters came off pretty easily and Goo Gone took care of the residue. But it looked like the name boards were newly painted before the letters were applied. That's not the case with the transom, so we'll see how that goes.

TD your on target. I used a heat gun & scrapper. Followed up with 3M adhesieve remover, wet sanded with 400, 800, 1000. Each grit was used until the sandpaper floated across the surface of the area. I then applied a 3M compound then polished. Worked GREAT!! No trace of the previous name or numbers.

Just did this two days ago . Removed three letters to get my new davits mounted on transom , will remove the rest later . I used heat gun with fairly low temp and got my fingernail under one corner and keep the heat applied will pulling off letter . One of them came off in one piece . My boat has been painted .
