I lived in Folsom and kept a sailboat on Folsom Lake for over ten years. There were plenty of years that we had low, low water in the lake. A couple of times we launched in April and had to haul out by the first of June, and still had to pay for the whole season. Quite often the entire marina would be sitting on dry ground.

As a rule we would not sail on the weekends because of all the high speed reckless crazies out there. The lake was patrolled by the state parks police, the county sheriff, the local police and Fish and Game. They still could not stop all the dangerous folks out there.

My son was coming into the marina from an evening sail and saw a jet ski doing at least 60mph slam into a bass boat. The driver of the jet ski was killed on impact and they were still searching for the body of one of the fishermen late into the night. The friends of the jet skier on shore said he had been drinking heavily and wanted to go out for one last ride. Indeed. KJ
