Phil:

Nice pic of Camden Harbor. From Mt. Battie? You were in my cruising grounds. Did you get a chance to go East a bit into Penobscot Bay before you headed to Beantown?

I hear you on the winter thing.

Hi,
yes, that is the view from Mt. Battie. We had a beautiful day when we went up there, crystal clear day, and could see all the way to Cadillac Mountain (Bar Harbor).
We also drove by car to Owl's Head - but that day it was so foggy, that from the marina parking lot we couldn't see the docks (or water). But still looked nice. We cruised past Owl's Head on the way out of Rockland - again, on perhaps the most perfect day of the summer... warm, sunny, no clouds, 5kt breeze, flat seas. Saw whales, porpoises, and a shark on the surface.
We spent the night on the hook in Isle of Shoals - and next morning had 3-5' chop on the bow for most of the way into Boston (and fog... go figure).

Oh and a few weeks before heading to Boston we took an overnight to Pulpit Harbor. Again in fog. But was very pretty there, but in June it was about 50' F.

Hope you got to visit the Owls head Transportation Museum? Heading that way tomorrow to see some of their newly donated MG collection.

Pulpit is one of our favorite places, although it can get a bit crowded sometimes. Fantastic sunsets from the anchorage.

Didn't get a chance to go to the museum. I bought the boat in January, launched her in June, and moored her in Rockland for a month (was there for the lobster boat races); then in July brought her to Boston. Perhaps I'll head up there one more time this summer. Also thinking of going up into the Canadian maritimes this summer, before I potentially move out of Boston.

******* My wife and I have marveled at the wonderful cruising opportunities off the coast of Maine but as of now this is the only boat we feel is suited for that area.
