Yes, a good one as well although you would be spelling quite a bit. Hopefully no one would confuse it with cattywampus (one of several spellings) which has a much different meaning. Basically "all out of whack"!

Cattywampus means "at an angle"

The best one I ever saw was "Never Again II"

I was always a fan of the original James Bond movie Thunderball and considered naming my boat "Disco Volante" after the awesome hydrofoil yacht in that movie.

My given name is Dennis which of course leads to the name "The Menace". But thought better of it!

Thunderball was released in 1965; it was preceded by Dr. No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963) & Goldfinger (1964). Interesting to me is that my skipper, Fly Boy, was cast as one of the underwater villains in Thunderball, but was assigned an emergency military mission & had to decline the role at the last minute. TRIVIA: The shark shot in an underwater scene was an unscripted menace to the armed divers, but the director liked the effect so much that the exposed film was kept in the final cut.

I was about 14 or 15 when some shots were filmed in Biscayne Bay when we lived in Miami Beach. My dad was in the movie location services and property business at the time and we got to see some of the shooting.

Afterwards the Disco Volante was dick at the Miami Beach Marina where the current Sunset Harbor is located today! That was a couple of blocks from our house.

Thank you for that typo. I laughed myself silly.

I guess we all remember “ Monkey Business “ but my favorite is a grandpa’s fishing boat named “ CanIgotoo” Back in our sailing days our Cape Dory 25 “Mariah” and CD 28 “Infinity” names looked great on their sterns.
Our first trawler came with the name “Hi-D-Ho” it sounded so great on the vhf so we kept the name for our Manatee.

Seen today in Ladysmith:
Years ago I fished on a 36 foot wooden fish boat out of Cowichan Bay, (Just a bit south of Ladysmith) named Nostril Agony, but we kept it scrubbed clean so she didn't live up to her name. The term is words from a song, I don't know which song or artist.

In the event we win the lottery, my wife and I have agreed to name our motor yacht
m/y Living Light out of Bethlehem Pennsylvania.

We do not want to scare off the civilians.

Just by the way, I recently finished the excellent book Dead Wake, which mentioned in passing the naming schemes of some steamship companies. Cunard used the names of extinct cities and civilizations (Lusitania). White Star used names ending in "C" (Titanic, Republic, Atlantic) The Union-Castle Line of course had Dunnottar Castle, Carnarvon Castle and so on. But best of all, the old Liverpool Line used the names of professions (Navigator, Electrician, Scholar).

Yes Monarch III was named because original name was Three Js. New owners did not want to change name completely. It was their third boat and figured the name Monarch was appropriate as it would rule their life. And it did for 23 years plus. It is a great boat. Enjoy.

Ours was originally named after a river in Ireland, I wanted to call it 'Macushla' (my darling in Gaelic) but it would've have sounded strange on the VHF, Macushla, Macushla, Macushla a bit like an old steam engine.
My partner Evelyne is French and she maybe thought it was after an old flame (it wasn't, but try telling a woman that) so we wanted something neutral.
We'd been to Andorra in winter it was brass monkeys cold and snowing hard and she had a fur lined coat with a hood and all you could see of her face was a little red nose sticking out.
I said she looked like a little 'Snow Mouse' and so the name stuck and is our boats name.

Boat #1 1966 Californian Express called "Island Hopper"
Boat #2 1997 Mainship 350 called "FREEBIRD"(my anthem).

Our boat name is Arcturus- A red star seen in the Northern Hemisphere in the constellation Bootes- and our boat model is a Polaris 35 here in Australia. We liked it but we do have it spelt phonetically next to our VHF for logging on to Sea Rescue as they inevitably ask for it:)

Our first boat was named “Das Boot” .

Stray Dog was the name this lil red boat came to me with, but not being a Citadel graduate and not wanting to explain the name I went with a simple pronounceable name that would reflect the splashy nature of the boat's intended use; plus that was the name of the class leader of the Ludders 44 yawls at the Naval Academy when I arrived there.

Das Boot is German for The Boat

Ja, ja wir wissen das, aber Das Boot ist versunken.
