New to Trawler forum

Hello to all:
Well I don't have a trawler as yet!Ha I have a 38 foot Chris Craft which is on the hard here at my home in Winchester and it is under major rebuild which is 75% done. I hope to launch in late spring on the tennessee River at Hales Bar which is about 25 miles down river from Chattanooga.
I f all goes well I am thinking of getting a Marine Trader Trawler after selling the Chris Craft???? Hopefully as I have another 23 John Allmand which is set up for Off shore fishing which I can no longer do due to heart problems.
I am 75 but still trying to be 45. Ha Plan on going out with my boots on!!!
I really like the Chris Crafts but doubt if I can afford the fuel as well as up keep as she has twin 454's which will really like gas I am sure if you get in to them heavy..
Wood song where on the river are you??I have been following your post here and else where and wonder where you are located?

Welcome to the forum Bill! Nice looking CC- I love the lines of the classic CC's!! We looked hard at the CC 47 prior to buying our monk- totally different type of boat but very nice lines IMO.
We keep our trawler at Island Cove just up stream from Hales Bar. So far we are enjoying it! Welcome again to TF!

Hi: Thanks for the welcome!! I have really been interested in the trawlers for a while and just found this site so all is new to me in the trawler world.
I did have a 30 foot Island Hopper with a 3208 cat that was a off shore fishing boat in Fla for about 10 years.It wasn't a real speed deamon.ha
I have always loved boats but never did have the finances to really get a real nice boat.I didn't pay much for the 38 I have but I didn't get anything much either.Engines had been removed,etc just total negelected for years.I regelcoated the outside and it looks great shines like new.What a job !! I had done 2 others but never one as big as the 38.It took a while and sanding,sanding and more sanding but she is very slick.I will post some photos if it is ok on a trawler forum?? Thanks,Bill

HI Guys: well since it is winter time and not a lot of action I will try to post some photos of my old Chris Craft Classic Boat.She is a 1967 model 38 foot sedan model with a fly bridge.I have been working on ity for 2 years and as I said earlier hope to splash in late spring.

Bill, She looks great!* I love the mahogany interiors of the late 60s Chriscrafts.

The heavy glass hull also had elegant lines, during those years.

I bet at trawler speeds she would be okay on gas too.

Hi: I got the faucets from Sailors exchange in Florida.They sell lot of stuff that is left over from building all kinds of boats.I will try to look up the address and post it if I find it.They were not really expensive.This boat was stripped and I had to rebuild all the head and bow section.Everything was gone,A/C units,engines,pumps,etc.So I have had to do a lot of shopping and did get some good deals as well as the shaft on some things.The Guys on the CC Commander forum are a great bunch and were a lot of help.I have it basically done lots of small stuff and biggest thing is the toe rails.All chrome was rechromed and cost a ton!! that came out all wrong, english is not my first language and even so speaking maritime terms is even an extra load..lolz.

i meant the faucet on my boat are looking a bit dated and could use a replacement.

I bought some replacement faucets from this place: hudsonreed.com and am pretty happy with them. Better quality by far than I expected for the price.

I shop at Sailors exchange frequently. They are a cool place to spend a morning rummaging around the equipment. You sometimes have to have an imagination to make some items work.
Mostly good prices, but sometimes close to retail- so be careful. Many of the items are from boat manufacturers (New) and can be good buys. Only about 3 miles from my house.

HI : Well since it is still cold and guess everyone mostly indoors trying to stay warm I will try to post some photos of the stuff I made for the salon area of the old girl.I had to start from nothing as all was gone when I got the boat so I made several things for the boat.
The table is a drop leaf table which will extend upt to 30 which is normanl tabe height,also made end tabe to match and a lamp also.
I made a couch that will extend out and make a double bead also.I have it stored in my attic till I get her done!!
