The old VHF died, need a new one. The Standard Horizon GX220 Matrix caught my eye. Class D DSC plus dual channel AIS. Seems like a lot of features for not too many dollars at Defender. Anybody have experience with this unit? Recommendations?

I had one in my Dive Charter Boat and it worked very well, including feeding AIS data to the chartplotters. No complaints or issues. :)

I do not but have heard good things about them

I just installed 2 Garmin VHF200

real happy with them love the oversize display

has NMEA 0183 and 200 abilities

with the ability to add GHS 10 or 20 remote speaker mics

Great units, Had the 2100. then went for the 2200. love the AIS and Built in GPS.

Standard Horizon makes an excellent radio. We just installed the Matrix 2200 on our boat, and I highly recommend purchasing the RAM Mike for the second steering station.

If you want VHF + DSC + AIS receive + GPS in one box, the GX2200 is the only game in town at the moment so far as I know. A good solid compact radio. We've had one for a year and like it.

Thanks for the input!
