Neat article about the ICW and Snow's Cut

Stumbled across a little piece about The ICW through New Hanover County and 70 years of Snow's Cut. If you've ever been through it, you'll always remember it.

Thought it might be a nice little trivia about who Snow's Cut is actually named for. Enjoy.

Interesting. *Thanks for posting, Tom. *With the environmental activism we have today, it is doubtful that the ICW or maybe the Interstate highway systm would ever have gotten built. *I for one am very glad that they did.

In our area, we surely take into account the tide before transiting Snow's Cut.* It can set you back!

RE: Neat article about the ICW and Snow's Cut

Just finished a book written after a cruise from Mass to Fl in the fall of 1912 , return in spring of 1913.

The fellow used a 26 ft cat boat and aux . Mass to Miami.

Almost all was feel your way down, he must have grounder 1000 times or more.

The Raratan Canal was in operation , but like too many a late start was a problem.

At least he had a small coal SHIPMATE range .

Great read for someone that has run the modern ditch since 1968

FF - Got a title and author for that book? Sounds like great reading.
